Daniella Goldberg's Profile
Welcome home! My passion for finding calm and clarity in body and mind, will make you feel like you're coming home to yourself through the sharing of the ancient practice of yoga and meditation combined with modern heart-centred modalities. As a meditation/yoga coach and medical scientist, I'm here to provide you with a practice that releases stress, boosts wellbeing and inspires gratitude & joy in your life.
Since the age of 5 years old I have been practicing yoga - as a hyperactive child that could not sit still, I was sent to yoga classes to help me to find a sense of calm, focus and creativity :-)
I began my deeper journey into yoga when I was seriously ill from too much stress. I found that yoga became my healing space. I experienced the healing benefits of yoga and meditation and as a scientist I craved to learn more about how it works in the body and mind.
Ten years on, I have been teaching yoga and meditation by the ocean at the iconic Wylie’s Baths from sunrise to sunset and keeping up with the latest scientific research about the benefits of yoga and meditation practice.
My desire is to host yoga and meditation adventure retreats that free you from the daily routine and lead you to exotic spaces world-wide. My retreats are an inner exploration, a journey of self-discovery. Taking you out of your comfort zone to reconnect with what matters most and disconnect from what doesn't. Find what makes your body deeply relax, release chronic stress and motivate you to move, dance, sing and laugh.
My Yoga Journey
Stressed out Science Student
For better or worse, I spent most of my early adult hood as a poor University student. In my late 20's, I completed a doctorate in medical science followed by a communications degree. Being a life-long University student, I could not afford a fitness gym membership so instead I would jog in the streets, parks, almost anywhere – its free!!!. On occasions, I would treat myself to a yoga class & experience the yoga bliss!
Stressed Out Working Mum
Ten years later as a mother of two adorable children in my early 40's, I continued to jog to destress. I yearned for the bliss that I often experienced at the end of a yoga class...but I did not prioritise myself or this bliss - I felt too busy..
With no yoga to calm me, my stress levels increased with a demanding boss and young children in need of my loving care. I was feeling the demands from all areas of life. Imbalanced and heading for a nervous breakdown, I was yelling & crying in response to the tiniest of issues - I now know I was experiencing chronic stress and potentially peri-menopause. My life could not continue as it was - I needed a change...
Yoga Healing
I decided to leave my corporate job and soon after I was diagnosed with a thyroid imbalance - a potentially serious issue - I had a small lump in my thyroid & I was frightened of cancer!
I read that yoga could help heal hormonal imbalances like my thryoid & also support rollercoaster emotions - so I returned to the mat. After I a long break, I began attending two classes a week to help heal my thyroid. Yoga & deep relaxation from the svasana meditation was exactly what I needed - to calm my body & mind!
Yoga Retreat calling...
At this vulnerable stage of my life, when I was truly focused on improving my health, I decided to gift myself a yoga & meditation retreat. On retreat, my dance with yoga truly began inspired by others on a healing journey, like me. Together we experienced unique healing practices and learnt so much from each other, and the skilled teachers - forming strong bonds - it was incredible! Most importantly, I learnt to prioritise my own self-care and then my relationship with family & friends - I had a mind shift that changed me forever.
The Science of Yoga
I became intrigued with the ancient wisdom of yoga and wanted to understand yoga affected my body and mind on a physiological, cellular and molecular level. I went deeper into my yoga with a teacher. training .
My medical research doctorate was studying hormones, mainly for osteoporosis, so I knew a lot about hormones already and I wanted to understand how yoga worked to balance and heal my hormone levels.
Nowadays, my yoga classes always include a yoga sequence that is critical in balancing hormones and stress - whether its thryoid, estrogen, testosterone or the stress hormone - cortisol. Most of us will experience chronic stress at some point in their life - and an increasing amount of research shows that yoga can help with chronic. stress and related conditions from headaches to gut issues and aches & pain...
Meditation Teaching
On my second trip to India, I trained as a meditation teacher so I could truly share meditation with my community. I had practised mindful meditation and incorporated this into my own personal practice and was sharing it in classes, grateful for the enormous benefits quietening the mind it gave to my students.
On Sunday afternoons, I love to gather with the Yogarama community for a meditation together to quieten the mind, heal the body and nourish the spirit - to help visualise and manifest their best dream life...This afternoon session stopped in COVID - but its coming back...
Individual Yoga Therapy
Studying yoga therapy, supported my intention for every yogi to maintain optimal health through a well-balanced yoga and meditation practice supported by a life style that is tuned into the cycles of nature. The 5000-year-old sister science of yoga, known as Ayurveda philosophy is connected with the five elements of nature: earth, fire water, ether and air. It characterises people into three different categories called doshas.
I am a VATA /PITTA dosha (this is my constitution in Ayurveda, the sister science of yoga) - I am always busy, creative and can be easily imbalanced and stressed with so much going on in my life. My personal yoga and meditation practice is designed to balance and support me in slowing down and calming my mind so I don't feel stressed and anxious.
I'm here to help you discover more about you (maybe your Ayurvedic Dosha) and to design a personal yoga practice tailored to you...
